3 Tips to Make Change Easy

When it comes to changing our routines or our habits, this is never easy. BUT there are some things we can go to make is a bit easier. Just like potty training kids, there needs to be a plan, motivation and consistency/accountability. Here are my 3 tips to make change easier: Rewards = motivation: finding what motivates you to do things right away and stick with it long term is very important. There are always going to be days that are harder than the others and finding something to motivate you to get through that day may be different than what motivates you to stick to it long term. I find that an external reward system works best for those hard days. Example: if I can eat on track and exercise once today, I will buy myself that shirt I have been wanting for a while (obviously you can't do this every time but you could substitute the shirt with some “me time” at the end of the day. Setting a plan – goals short and long term: this is often neglected but very important. Short terms goals are what keeps people motivated to get to those long-term goals. There is no better feeling than completing a goal you set out for yourself! In this together – buddy system: this is the accountability aspect. Having someone embark on the journey with you to keep you accountable and consistency is very important because who wants to transform their lives by themselves haha. Pick a friend that has similar goals to you and do it together. One key thing to remember though is NOT to fall into the trap of comparison! Because you will both meet your goals if you stick to it, it just might not be at the same milestones! Keep up the great work and stay motivated! Change is not easy, and it is not for everyone. Prove to yourself that you are worth being healthy and happy! Don’t take life too seriously, Meg
