5 Tips on Nutritional Health
A huge part of leading a healthy lifestyle is eating healthy. This can be very hard, especially when there are SO MANY theories out there, as to what is the best way to eat. That being said there are some similarities in all of the theories. These similarities are listed in my 5 tips on nutritional health below:
- Nutrition label – I am sure that at one point or another you have been told to look at a nutrition label, but what are you looking for? A good rule is to only buy the product if you recognize and can pronounce each ingredient in the list. If you can't it's probably because it is not good for you.
- Outside of the grocery store – playing on the nutritional label point, look for foods without a nutrition label. Why? Because that means these products are not processed and have an expiry date. A LOT of these types of foods can be found on the outside of the grocery store. It also helps you spend less money when you are only shopping the perimeter as opposed to each individual isle.
- Supplement – I have said this time and time again. Eating real food is the best things you can do, but if you are lacking in certain areas and can't seem to get that intake, filling those gaps with supplements if a good option. But it is important to make sure that these ae quality products (third party tested) - I have previous blog post on how to choose the best vitamin!
- Highest nutritional – fruits and vegetables are at their highest nutritional values when they are in season! This means in order to reap the full benefits of the vitamins and minerals in the food you are eating, try and get them while they are in season!
- Drinking calories – this is also a very popular saying “don’t drink your calories”. A big reason why I use this phase is because when you are “drinking your calories” it is because you are drinking sugary soft drinks, or juice, pretty much anything other than water, plain tea and black coffee. Instead replace the juice and pop with healthier alternatives like water with fruits infused or sparkling water!
Yours truly,
Meg
