Why Workout Outside
Thanks to the current state of the global pandemic gyms are now reopening. But this isn’t a post about how excited I am to go back to the gym (which I am), it is why I think we should continue to work out outside!
There are so many people current working from home, which means they are cooped up inside their house in a not-so ergonomic environment causing back pain, fatigue and mood swings. Did you ever think that by simply having a 10-minute workout outside you can counter act these effects?
Although 10 minutes is not the most effective it is better than nothing. Instead of getting in your car (spending more time seated) to spend another 45 minutes to an hour inside at your local gym, exercise outside. Here is why:
- VITAMIN D – since being inside for prolonged hours of the day many of us are probably deficient in this vitamin. Being outside gives us a natural boost of vitamin d. But don't forget your sunscreen!
- Involve the family – it is a great way to get everyone in the family moving since they are probably in the same boat as you!
- It working out at home has forced many of us to rely on functional movements as weights are either sold out or expensive. These functional movements force us to go back to the basics and fix our imbalances. This is really important when you begin lifting heavy again. Muscle imbalances put you at greater risk of injury!
Consider working out outside, at home or a local park once or twice a week's even just for a change in scenery!
