Staying Active While Working from Home
So many people are working from home these days, most are finding it quite difficult to uphold a consistent exercise routine. For myself I knew that if I went home after work, telling myself I will go home for an hour and then go to the gym – I NEVER do.
All this to say that this pandemic has been hard in many ways for all of us. For me the lack of consistency, routine and accountability has been a big factor. Over the past few months I have learned a few tricks on how to stay consistent and motivated to exercise.
- Exercise in the morning before you have time to think about anything else that could distract you from getting your workout in. I have found that walking 5km in the morning while listening to a good podcast has completely changed my level of motivation to exercise and get the things done that I need to!
- Keeping it consistent. This means that unless I have a GREAT excuse as to why I will not exercise that day I will do exercise, whether I like it or not haha. This also means exercising a little bit every day, builds a routine so that you are no longer thinking about exercising. You just do it!
- Take frequent breaks to walk around if you are sitting at a desk! This is great because it helps with muscle soreness from being seated for long periods of the day!
These are all great ways to stay active when you are working at home! Trying new things and figuring out what works best for you and your routine is the best thing that you can do for your health!
