Let’s Talk Money

It costs Canada $9B to treat obesity, while barely any money is ...

The Conference Board of Canada etimates that if just 10% of Canadians sat less and moved more, the country could save $2.6 billion, I repeat $2.6 BILLION (BounajmDinh, & Thériault, 2014). In Ontario alone, the economic burden set forth by inactive individuals is that of $3.4 billion (Katzmarzyk, P.T., 2011). Obesity alone costs Ontario $4.5 billion (Katzmarzyk, P.T., 2011).

Nationally, the cost of medical treatment for those with chronic diseases has soared. The total cost for Canadians being $190 billion annually, increase as the prevalence of chronic disease is on the rise (Public Health Ontario, 2019)

What could a possible solution these soaring costs be? You guessed it GET ACTIVE! Could you imagine a world where it was encourages or even required that every hour's persons were requiring to get up and walk around? Imagine the possibilities, the health benefits!

The Province of Ontario and all other provinces in Canada could benefit greatly from taking a more preventative approach to health care. Kinesiologist can do just that, utilizing the system to help prevent and manage patient's chronic disease before or in simultaneous use of prescriptions.

Most chronic diseases are preventable!
