Did You Know You Don’t Have to Live in Pain

I have said this time and time again. As a kinesiologist there as so many things that we can do. Let’s start by defining kinesiology – the science of human movement and exercise. From cells to society Kinesiology uncovers the biomechanical, physiological, neurological and psychosocial mechanisms that drive human function and performance. (2007)
For many kinesiology their ideal practice would revolve around prevention. Prevention of injuries and chronic disease. A lot of people go about their life anticipating the onset of some sort of chronic disease as if it is a normal. Although a lot of us will suffer from a disease at one point or another there are ways the onset of disease and illness can be postpone and/or managed through exercise.
This is why the profession of kinesiology is such an integral part of your health care circle. Prevent disease before it stops you from doing this you love and being the person, you want to be for your family and friends.
Did you know that physical activity has shown to reduce the risk of over 25 chronic conditions?
- coronary heart disease, diabetes, certain types of cancer, high blood pressure, strokes, Alzheimer’s and other mental health conditions. (2007)
Age healthy! This is not impossible, the only reason we think it is, is because not enough people do what it takes to be healthy. With age we “give up” our bodies are no longer our own, they are our children, our sickly parents, our friends. This does not have to be. Taking care of yourself is just as important if not more important than taking care of others.
