Post Exercise Blood Pressure
Did you know that blood pressure during and after exercise is an indicator of future cardiac health? Let's start by defining blood pressure. Blood pressure is the pressure of the blood within the arteries (William, 2018). Think of it as a hose, turn it on slightly and you get your daily pressure, the more you turn it the more water rushes out the more pressure you are putting on the inside of the hose.
In May of 2020 researchers at Boston University conducted a study to evaluate the correlation of blood pressure during exercise/after and hypertension, heart disease and death.
These researchers observed that individual’s with higher systolic or diastolic blood pressure (SBP; DBP) during exercise were at greater risk of hypertension (Joowon et al., 2020). To add to this point, the delayed or post exercise high BP were associated with cardiovascular disease and death (Joowon et al., 2020).
It is so important that we take care of ourselves, our mental, physical and emotional health are all related to one another. If one is off balance it throws the rest off too.
Consult your Medical Doctor to see what you can do to manage your blood pressure.
