Bloating
What causes someone to bloat? What is bloating? As per Oxford language dictionary bloating is the swollen state caused by retention of fluid or gas. There are so many things in our lives that can cause bloating. Many men and women suffer from bloating and believe it to be a part of life. What an uncomfortable life to live....
A few things that may cause you to bloat (Barhum, 2018):
- Beans – can cause bloating because of the high fiber content.
- Carbonated beverages – carbon dioxide gas is infused to create the bubbly feel
- Wheat – contains gluten from which many people are sensitive to
- Onions and garlic – they contain fructans which are soluble fibers that cause bloating
- Dairy – some people are not able to break down the lactose
Really it is a matter of being aware of your body. When you are bloated think, OK what have I don’t differently today that could have made me bloated. Try eliminating the cause from your diet.
How can we rid of bloating fast (Berry, 2020)?
- Walking – this gets the bowels moving which can helps release the trapped gas in the abdomen
- Try yoga poses – certain poses encourage the release of gas
- Peppermint – relaxes the intestinal muscles
- Abdominal massage – relaxes the intestinal muscles
- Soaking in a bath – reduce levels of stress, which can improve GI function
- Gradual increase fiber – this worst by preventing bloat and improve digestion
- Eat at regular intervals – this helps get the body moving
- Try probiotics – helps regulate colon bacteria
