Intake Window
I want to preface this post with this is MY OPINION in the post workout window. Whether based on your scientific research this is correct or not, this is what I found worst best for me.
Let’s start off simple. What is a post workout window, for those of you who don't know what it is! Basically, there is a window of time after your workout that your muscles absorb the most amount of the nutrients it needs to recover and repair. Some think it is within the first 15 minutes or finishing a workout, some think it is within the first few hours.
When it comes to your body absorbing the amino acids and nutrients it needs to build that muscular tissue, the nutrients come from the blood. If the nutrients you need are already in your blood then you will not need to supplement directly post workout!
You probably know by now that I believe in real food first, no protein bars and shakes are not real food haha.
All this to say that if you are eating properly for your goals and body type then the post workout window should not matter because your body already holds the nutrients you need to recover. That being said, if you are hungry, HAVE A SNACK haha. But you don't have to be the person rushing home because you're at minute 25 of your 30 minute post workout window.
