How To Do It All

Making time for your health may seem like a given. But for most people it is not! When things get stressful people tend to tell themselves, “I’ll go to the gym tomorrow”, “I just need something quick and easy”  without thinking of the repercussions down the line. I am just as guilty!

Most people think it is just one meal or one skipped session, but those skipped sessions and meals led to another and then another. You get the point. I am not saying NEVER eat unhealthy or skip a workout but to make eating healthy and going to the gym a priority.

Health is physical, mental, and emotional.

Since I was 18 my life has been incredibly busy! Throughout the years I have found some effective ways to MAKE TIME FOR MY HEALTH.

Nutritionally, I have found the best way to eat healthy is to be prepared.
  • Meal prep for the week to know exactly what you are going to eat.
  • If it is NOT in your house YOU WILL NOT eat it (this is the best advice I have ever been given)
  • Healthy alternative, treat yourself every once in a will with the thing that you are craving, but try and choose the healthier version of it - if you are craving Doritos, try PopCorners instead!)
  • Stop giving yourself the excuse “oh, my kids eat that” - the harsh truth is your kids probably shouldn't be eating that. If you are trying to become healthier why would you not want your kids to be too? Instill these healthy habits now!

Incorporating exercise into a busy schedule can be difficult, but there are so many ways that we can! University was one of the busiest times, especially during midterm and exam season! I always told myself my time would be better off spent studying.

  • Did you know that exercise actually helps you retain information more effectively! So exercising during exam season is even more important
  • Working long days at work, GREAT! Exercise will provide you the energy you need to survive the day.
  • Kids to take care of at home, even better. Family workout time. Weather permitting go for a walk or do an outdoor workout after dinner.

Your mental and emotional health are just as important as your physical health. The great thing is they are all interrelated! Meaning EXERCISE & EATING HEALTHY will help with your emotional and mental health by releasing feel good hormones. We just tend to be happier people when we eat right and exercise daily! Try it out for a week, you WILL FEEL BETTER!

If you make these things a priority you will find time for them, and you will be a healthier person for it!

Yours truly,

Meg
