Sweat Out The Sickness!

Some people will probably read this title and scuff away instantly. Since I began as a trainer in 2014, the number 1 excuse I would receive from people for missing their appointments was that they weren’t feeling well. Well, I am here to tell you exercising when you are sick is OK, as long as you are listening to your body. Exercise can actually help with nasal congestion pretty effectively, as effective as eating a hot bowl of chili!  Now, I am in NO WAY suggesting you go and infect others by running on the treadmill and having 30 000 coughing fits.  NO, but go for a walk outside in the fresh air. Maybe do a bodyweight workout at home.

It is OK to exercise if you are following the guidelines below:
- All the symptoms are above the neck, DON’T exercise if below (chest congestion or upset stomach)
- You are NOT expressing a fever, fatigue or widespread muscle aches

When I am sick I make sure that exercising is still a main priority. I understand that when I am sick, my motivation plummets, but I know that after my workout I will not regret it. I always feel so much better after moving even a little bit. The best way to stay healthy is to be proactive! Eat properly, exercise, and WASH YOUR HANDS.

Yours truly,

Meg
